Default '87 Bogs, cuts off.

Alright, so I've got a new-to-me 87 Accord. The interior is mint, and the exterior just needs a good wax, so I'm in love with the thing. The engine seemed tight, excepting that after putting a few miles on it and the engine gets warmed up, it stalls out while accelerating. I'm not sure what the hell it could be. I replaced the fuel filters, and it still stalls. It ends up where I have to either hold it at 45 mph, because it bogs at any speed above, or it stalls out completely. Now, it cranks and runs fine. It doesn't show any sign of problems until after I've driven 40 miles or so, and I make quite a few long-distance driving, which is why I bought the car, and I've got another of my 200 mile runs coming up soon, so fixing this is imperative. My mechanic is boggled, unfortunately.

My guess would be a fuel problem. Perhaps the fuel pump is intermittently cutting out, or the carburetor can't handle the flow. I would rebuild and clean the carb first just to rule that out.

My second gas is a spark problem - It may be a distributor or wires issue, though this is less likely IMO.

I don't have anything to solve your stalling problem, but I just wanted to say I really miss my 1987 Accord. Okay, I don't really miss it, but it served me well for 15+ years.

What do you think about just going with some gumout? I've started using premium gas, as per my mechanic's recommendation, and I havent had the issue.

have you checked your 02 sensors and your catalytic converters? My guess is cats are clogged.
