Default intake or filter???

I have a general question about intakes... Are intakes as good as the hype, or just another rice cliche..should I just buy a K&N filter with my stock intake or drop the extra on a new short ram???

Default filter

if you get a short ram the engine will get hot air and, it wants cold air. I'm not sure how well the K&N filter works compared to the stock one, i think its like $30 or so but i had a cone intake and when i put back the stock intake it felt like i had a little more power plus it ran better too, you get better gas mileage with the stock one. there is another company that makes a filter that supposedly is better than K&N that i read on a post i don't know the namethough. So don't ket a short ram stick with the stock intake and get a different filter.

Yes, intakes are as good as the hype. Consider AEM Cold-Air, DC Sports Cold-Air and Comptech Ice-Box intakes, all are very nice and will help add a little power. I even noticed a difference going from an HKS in-engine intake to DC Sports cold-air. Definitely consider the COLD-AIR intakes!

If you have the money, go for the intake, if you short on cash, then remove your stock air resonator and go with a drop in K&N filter.

ram air intakes like the dc sports direct air charger are a waste of money. all it does is suck in hot air from the engine. ive heard good things about the cold air intakes but you have to make sure you dont suck in water while driving through deep puddles.

A short ram isn't a waste of money when used w/heat shield and the resonator removed so you can get isolate the filter element from the rest of the engine and some air from outside the vehicle will get in and be directed towards the filter. If I had the $$ i'd go w/AEM cold air intake w/bypass valve, but im getting my short ram for $15 shipped and considering my stock intake box is basically jacked(rear ended truck w/flowmasters, exhaust tip went through my air box) it's a deal I couldn't pass up.

have you guys noticed that every new person that join this board asks the same question? "what kind of intake?", "what is a good brand?", "water ingestion!"

Seriously, i think there are over 20 threads about Intakes!

I recommend Injen. Sounds great, you can feel a difference and the have a cold air extension. ALl you do is take the filter off and slap on the extension instead of taking you whole short ram off and put the cold air. and it is cheaper. injen intake 150 shipped. extension is 60 I think. www.optauto.com

:werd:, i have an Injen CAI Racing Division (that's the FULL cold air intake) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Especially the sucking and whistling noise it makes!
