im going to say this one more time

i have the harness, i dont need to buy one, i wanted the wiring scheme because the adaptor is a no-name and the colors ARE NOT the same as the alpine unit. So while SumAccordGuy answered my question more than adequately with a simple URL yesterday morning, you seem to feel the need to imply things based on equipment I may or may not be using, and citing standards that may or may not be at work. So while I'm sure you are a very competent installer and very knowledgeable in these areas, my point is that your information doesn't apply to my case and theres no real need for a "that still doesnt make sense" when the question I asked has already been answered.

Furthermore in reference to my particular harness, it would not be advisable to connect it directly to the headunit and "not worry about it" due to some components in the system which require a greater current. The wire from the harness won't sustain that current and so simply connecting it to the 12V wire on the factory harness might fry the unit.

And as for my student status, you may not give a rats ass at all and I don't particularly care whether you do. But whether you know it or not, I wasn't saying I was better than you, I was saying I know more about these things than the thread topic suggested. So if you were offended, my apologies, but really, you got nothin to say about my common sense. If i didnt have any, I'd have gone and bought another harness from some retail ass like you instead of working with the perfectly good, albeit schematically flawed, harness that i already have.

Yeah, I hate those older harnesses that had mis-matched wirring colors...

Good choice on the deck, i'm sure you'll love it!

I noticed you already took the high amperage power wire into consideration. A good point to get the power for the wire is right at the kick-panel fuse box. Just above the fuses is a row of power terminals... run a 12 gauge wire from the yellow harness wire to the fuse box area, terminate the wire with a .25" female disconnect terminal. The terminal closest to the fire wall should be the constant power terminal, but check it with a test light to verify. Also, with the ground wire, be sure to chassis ground it, instead of the car harness. All that power getting to the deck is useless without a proper ground.

Hope the install goes well for you.

I've actually already done the install. I got an email from Alpine about a question I had regarding the high power input.

I'm using all three preouts and running them to a pair of amplifiers in the trunk. I figured since I was using these, the extra current for the V-drive amplifier was kind of useless. So I wrote Alpine and asked them if it was ok to terminate the speaker lines with electrical tape and just use the factory power wire. I figured since there would be no current running through the speaker lines, I wouldn't need the amp to have so much power (you can turn it off anyway with the unit powered up, which im going to).

Alpine responded that that was fine so I did the install last night. Thanks very much for your help my the way SumAccord. Thanks for your help too mysturyous. I wasn't trying to be a dick before, I guess I came off like one, my apologies.

Thats cool............please accept mine too. Its hard sometimes to express what you are trying to say in typing so its even hared to take it on the other end. I wasnt trying to be an ass either, I was just trying to make it easier on you doing your install. Well I hope it all went ok and props to DIY. Later
