Default Pinstripe removal - How??

How would you guys go about removing pin striping? And after a little over 3 years of it being on the car, what's the chance that after removing them, the paint will be a different shade and would look worse then leaving the pin striping on?

check my website how-to section in my sig

paint wont be faded too bad, it will lighten up and become less noticable in time. you wont notice it unless you get up close.

I have a 1999 Accord (Nighthawk Black) which I removed a red pinstripe that had been on there for three years. To tell you the truth, it was much easier than I thought.

At the end of the stripe, I just peeled a little of it up with my fingernail and slowly pulled it off. Paint fade was virtually nill...I cannot even tell it was there anymore.

You'll have glue residue left over, but bug and tar remover works to get rid of it, or if it's bad, a good old claybar wouldn't hurt.

Good luck.

My car is silver. I'm just paranoid that it will look wacked after I remove them. I removed the old fenderwell trim and if you look closely you can see a difference in the paint. But it's not that noticeable. I don't know, I'll give it a try this weekend.

I was paranoid too. But don't worry about it, it's easy stuff. Especially on a silver car.

I used the sunlight(heat gun will work if you don't have sun) and automagic to remove the leftover adhesive. Heat up the pinstriping enough so you can begin to peel it off and just peel it all the way back. After it's off, use the adhesive remover to clean up the mess left behind and that's it. I would recommend a good wash and wax afterwards too.

Peel it off at an end (you should use a heat gun or a blow drier to soften it up). Once it's off, use a product like Meguair's Paint cleaner to buff the paint. Properly buffed & waxed, you won't notice a difference - particularly with silver paint.

what is pinstrip?? the lil lines that run on each side of the car fromt the corner lamp to the tail light???

if it's so, how can i removed it since ONE SIDE OF MINE is gone and the other side is not, and it's FACTORY PAINTED over, and some is fading off.

uh, to make that clear, the strip on my EX is not the strips glued over, it's actually Factory painted or whatever and it's fading off a lil bit
