OEM Muffler?
Does anyone know who makes the OEM muffler for a 2000 Accord (EX coupe)? A few of the online parts companies list Bosal as OEM but I didn't know if that was just an OEM replacement or the true OEM manufacturer.
A local shop just put a replacement muffler on my car (no name brand, just what they stock) and my car sounds like it has a performance muffler (deep sound when generating torque) and I want the car to sound as close to stock as possible.
Thanks!

any regular muffler would sound the same as the factory muffler. its just that they gave you a "performance muffler". just tell them to put a regular a muffler on and you dont want any sound coming out of it.
and i wouldn't pay 4 times as much just to get the oem.

Bosal is an aftermarket OEM type replacement. If you buy it from Autozone, it comes with a lifetime warranty and is a direct fit, meaning, not a bunch of clamps holding a generic muffler in between pipes. I use Bosal and have had good fit and relatively good life out of them (3 to 4 years).
For Honda OEM you can obviously go to the dealer or buy online from Majestic (also a dealer, but cheaper)-hondaautomotiveparts dot com. I don't know the brand of Honda's though.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord LX Coupe (4cyl). My car sounded like absolute crap, and it turned out I had a hole on the top of my muffler(probably from the short trips). I took it to a muffler shop, and they installed/welded the Bosal Muffler for around $30. My car now sounds like the day I first bought it. The part numbers are listed below(bought the muffler and gasket from autopartswarehouse). However, I do not know who the OEM manufacturer is for the muffler, but the Bosal has a lifetime warranty and sounds just as quiet as OEM.

Thanks for the info. I'm tempted to try the Bosal.
The shop I went to tried two different mufflers and I had the same results. I talked to a Honda dealer and they, of course, said I was getting deeper noise because I didn't use a Honda muffler. They said that the honda mufflers were tuned to the RPM range of car. I realize that the muffler they put on was probably generic in the sense that it will fit a number of cars but I have a hard time believing that only a Honda muffler will quiet my car. Any thoughts?

just go to (theaccordstore) http://www.secureleadercom.com I replaced all my muffler pipes from there.
how much is the shop charging for an OEM exhaust?
You can get an aftermarket brand with a silencer. That'll kill all sorts of tones. I know this is offered by Comptech and a few other leading mfgs.
