Default Here you go again!!!

I know this subj. has already been discussed in this forum thousands of time. But I still need assurance from you guys. So, Please bear with me one more time.

1999 Honda Accord, 4cyl, 76,000 miles.

I always changed oil and filter at 2500 miles no matter what.
Now i have decided to go to Synthetic or Synthetic Blend. I am doing some research about it but can't figure or set up my freaking mind what to use. So, my question is

Should I use Full Synthetic or Synthetic Blend? Consider that fact that my car is 8 years old and have 76,000 miles in it.
Oh, one more thing, CAN I STILL USE HONDA OEM FILTER WITH SYNTHETIC?
Plese help me.

thanks
Bill.

Yes, you can still use the Honda filters. But, they're not what they used to be from what I've gathered. They're made by FRAM now I believe. Just go full synthetic. With only 76k, I wouldn't worry.

Unless you're going to extend your oil change intervals, I wouldn't bother changing.

If you're going to extend the oil change intervals, regardless of petro, synthetic, or semi-synth... do a couple oil analysis samples at various mileage.

Use whatever oil you want. Don't extend beyond factory interval first time. Next oil change you won't have the leftover residual of different brand mixed in. Then when you drain THAT oil, have a sample bottle from Blackstone or whatever analysis lab you choose. For about $20 they'll tell you whether your oil is all used up or only 1/2 used up. After a couple of these you'll know how that oil behaves with your habits. Then you won't be guessing & neither will we.

Good filters:
Purolator Pure-One
Mobil-1
K&N

Default thanks

Yea, I did it. My mechanic also suggested that i should go full synthetic. I changed it with Mobil 1 synthetic and Honda oem filter. I could feel the difference in driving and it improved Gas milage about 2 miles per gallon in city triaffic.

Thanks for your postings. It really helped.

Bill.

Ditch that Honda OEM, it's not near as good as you think it is.

Default Oil Filter

Here is a site where a guy did some testing of several filters. Check it out. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.htmlIt seems to me after reading it that the following are good filter:
Fram Tough Guard
WIX sold at NAPA
Mobil 1
Purolator

I have always used Mobil 1 with the Fram Toughguard or a WIX Gold from Napa.

Im glad you switched to a better oil than just petro. No matter what your choice was your better off now with the full synthetic. But changing that every 2500 miles maybe overkill. But it wont hurt a thing. GOOD CHOICE!
