Default stupid me... a lesson for you

I needed to do a tune up... i took off the cap, one of the screws broken in half... still inside the thread ( thinking the last owner had to too tight). Then I took out the rotor and screwed in the new one too tight, the thread broke off. The cap wiggles but wont come off. So I just keep it on. If I do take it off, there's no way i'll be able to put it back on since the broken screw is still stuck on the thread. I think it might still work...

I put the new cap on... (remember I only now have 2 screws to screw the cap on, since the one already broke w/ half the screw still in the thread). I put on one... then the 2nd and that breaks in half (screwed in too tight). So i got one screw holding the distributor cap on... start it up.. running fine right now.

so i'm basically f'cked... i'm gonna get a use distrubutor or like 75$....

get a schizle and a hammer and take out the broken screw.

and for the broken thread i'd do the exact same as stereo said^^^

i over torqued 4 different bolts and i definately regret it. tapping it was a pain in ass. first 2 were over torqued but the other 2 just broke w/ out any power.

The reason I thought I needed to tune up...because was car was stalling on the highway. If i tried starting back up, the rpm would jump to one and back down. ..waiting 30 seconds normally does the trick.

This happened about once two weeks ago, once yesterday, once today (after tune up)....symptom of the distributor is failing? Oh well I'mma get a new one from Distributor King

the car stalling out shouldn't have anything to do with a tuneup..theres a problem one of the parts that would cause stalling is a bad ignition switch there was a recall for it..

I thinks its a bad igniter in the distributor, but since i f'ked my screws, i'll just get a another complete distributor.

it's hard to say what the problem is but a bad ignition switch can stall the car but call the dealer and see if the recall has been done if not they have them do it if it's already been done or the car salvaged then your on your own. as for the ignitor usally when those stall the engine they won't start back up until the car has cooled down...but you never know...
