Default Getting a 2000 Accord V-6

My neighbor is moving away to China and we've been friends for a lonng time. Luckily for me, he'll sell me his 2000 Accord (V6) for $3500.. not bad for a car that hasn't been in any accident - he has taken really good care of it..

Puahah this will be my first car (i'm 17) so i'll need some help from you guys :P

1. the stock transmission is junk from what i feel when he gives me a ride anywhere.. so i was wondering, does the transmission come as a part of an engine package? or do you buy transmissions seperately..

2. i'd like to get 300-400hp out of that car (is it feasible? ) would you recommend a full turbo kit? or start off with an engine swap? from what i've read, the most likely candidate is a h22 from a prelude?

3. does anyone know a good site or book i can learn about modifying cars?

thanks in advance !!

1. its separate.

2. good luck. there is no kit for the v6 accords... youll have to go all custom. h22 will NOT swap into the V6 (and its pointless)... the j32a2 from the cls/tls will.

3. you cant learn from a book

Good deal

I just got a call from the stealership sayin they just got one in stock for $12,995....

Buy a transmission brand new, don't rebuild that shit...

The J30's have more HP than an H22....

In general, don't swap out a V-6 for a 4 cylinder. (LoL) The V6 is a good engine, just the tranny that stinks a bit. Swap it out for a 5-speed.

j32 swap with 6sp manual... i guess its a great swap but it is hard to come by, throw in a comptech supercharger and call it a day

If you didnt know if the tranny and engine were seperate I think you may not want to try and Do It Yourself for an engine swap or any other costly modification.

perfect info for a noob.

I dont know if the v6's are represented well in the honda build up books but SA has some honda horsepower books that are pretty good. ( I dont read much I like to look at the pictures. ) :>

First of all, you can't learn from a book. The manual (haynes) can give you some guidance. You learn by doing.

Second, swapping a 4cyl is retarded. a 6spd from an 02 CL-S (j32)would be you're best bet. You could get the whole engine and tranny from a CLS (and its a sick engine/tranny!) but like its been said...hard to come by/a little pricey.

I also wouldn't recommend just bolting on a comptech supercharger without beefing up your internals.

Easy way, just get a new auto tranny. Anything other than that will be more costly/time consuming/not for the newbie.
