Default flashing oil light

'90 honda accord ex. Drove it almost one mile the other day across campus and the oil light started flashing at me. I had just added oil the day before to top it off and it was only a half quart low. Never heard of honda oil pumps wearing out. Got both new timing/balance belts. Bad sensor? Loose sensor wire? Haven't had time to get it on the lift.

It's not real rare for the oil pressure switch to go bad. But if you don't have a pressure gauge to verify that, you have to take your chances about assuming the actual oil pressure is OK.

Bad oil pump isn't the only reason for pressure to be low. Sometimes the oil pickup screen in the pan gets obstructed.

On my wifes 92 lx the oil light flashes when its low on oil. But that doesn't happen often.

I've had the oil pan off 2 years ago for a new gasket and everything was spotless. Unless some gasket somehwere let loose and is right over the pickup, I should be ok.

well thats kind of a no brainer...I'm ASE certified so i can do the same thing a honda shop can do but a hock of alot cheaper. I'm coming to you guys for any info available. Like I said, sensors prone to going out? Pumps prone to going out? I'm gonna hook up a mech gauge today and see what I'm getting or not getting...we'll see.
