Default 96 Accord brake rotor replacement

I took my Accord (a '96 I4) to a mechanic to get the rotors replaced, but they could not get the hubs off the rotor and also wore out one of the bearings as well. To get new hubs, bearings, and spindles, and I don't know what else, he's telling me it's gonna cost me more than $700. The car has
105,000 miles and it was in New York for some time. Do hubs really cost about $200, or can I get the parts somewhere else at a lower price? I am also thinking about whether I should just take it home and do it myself.

front or rear?

I'd take it to another mechanic for sure.

Rotors = $55 ea (Brembo blank)
Bearing = $100 ea

I'm wondering if your hub and bearing are pressed together like the 6th gen's. If so, those run about $130 ea.

I'm talking about the front rotors. I already had the rotors, and I gave it to the shop to have it done. I'm not sure if they're pressed together, but all I've been told about them is that they're not the kind you can pull off the axle easily. I would like to know what exactly I will need to get the job done. Does the salt from up north really make it difficult to take off?

on my 94 accord the only thing holding that hub onto the rotor was 4 pain in the ass bolts and a the large nut for the hub in the center. they definitely weren't pressed on... unless they started to press on after that year.

if u are n nyc I can send u to my mechanic a friend of mine. he charge $60 to replace both front rotors. btw make sure u get honda pads

Living up North and working on cars SUCKS! I absolutely hate rust. So yes, they can be a pain to work with, but alittle (or a lot) PB Blaster (penetrating oil) will usually work.
For $700 you can search the "rotor over hub" swap and do that for less. I'm curious as to why they want to charge you $700 even if the bearings are stuck to the rotors, especially since you brought them the rotors.
Sorry I can't give any tips on removing them, I just got this car.

sounds like the bearing is stuck in the hub so he's replaceing them both along with the rotors also if they are rusted it will cost $$$ depending on if anything gets damaged while trying to get the hub free. thats one reason I switched to the rotor over hub setup .
