Default 96 Accord brake rotor replacement

I took my Accord (a '96 I4) to a mechanic to get the rotors replaced, but they could not get the hubs off the rotor and also wore out one of the bearings as well. To get new hubs, bearings, and spindles, and I don't know what else, he's telling me it's gonna cost me more than $700. The car has
105,000 miles and it was in New York for some time. Do hubs really cost about $200, or can I get the parts somewhere else at a lower price? I am also thinking about whether I should just take it home and do it myself.
