Default ? for 98 99 auto owners...

Hey 6thGenners,
I'm just wondering if anybody else is having the downshifting auto tranny problem that the 00-01's are having...

Or am I the only one?

If anybody has, did you get the repair covered under the extended warranty? Did you go thru Honda of America?

If they won't cover it, I think all the 98-99 auto tranny owners who are having problems shoul unite and beseige USA Honda with a flurry (yes, that's right, a FLURRY) of emails and phone calls on a nonstop basis telling them to fix the problem.

I'm still waiting for my goodwill request at USAHonda to be looked at... but I don't have the best feeling about them coming thru for me.

Thankfully I have one of those three pedal cars. Slushboxes suck for yet another reason!

I haven't had any problems yet and I have 31K miles. What does the transmission do? Is it the same problem the Acura TL's are having?

Yep. It will drive fine for like 30 minutes and then it will suddenly downshift and sputter and slip and then it won't shift into another gear. Exactly like the 00-01 Acura/Honda 5 speed auto...

I've got a goodwill request into Honda but from what I've researched about this they are probably not going to cover the whole cost of a new transmission. Probably half if I get lucky. But if I can find enough people who are having similar problems with their 98-99's then maybe we can all make enough noise and get it fully covered by Honda.

i dont have any problems with my tranny, but i would I felt we shouldnt have been left out of that free warranty also, especially cuz we were the earlier years, and perhaps more suspectible to the problems being older, and u kno what they say, many times the first year a car comes out, thats when they have the most problems... shouldnt have we have gotten that free extended warranty too? and besides my honda dealership maintenance place is a BUNCH of BS, they dont ever want to help me out cuz i modded my car, i dont even drive my car hard, and im not a rice boy. i hear people getting helped all the time, so i would love to take my car to the dealership just to get it done for free cuz i kno eventually my transmission will start to go wack on me or slip or some sort. i would love the security to kno i could get my tranny fixed later in its life.

Default I have the same problem

I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 EX. 42100 miles. And it does have a messed up transmission.

Mine does downshift at random times, sometimes I won't up shift. And sometimes it will get stuck.

I am ready to take on Honda USA.
