Uhhhhh, no. You haven't heard about the 00-01 tranny problem? It's actually quite dangerous. Sometimes (just randomly) when you are driving, for whatever reason, the tranny will either downshift suddenly or put itself into reverse...

Think of this in 5 speed terms.... you're cruising at 65 in 4th and all of a sudden you slam it into 1st or reverse.... the sudden lower gear causes a nasty skid possibly killing you or others...

but small/minor auto tranny problems could be an early symptom.

I have a 98 and I am on my second tranny. I am going too take this one in and probably will have another one put in. Seems like they put the old one back in and tried too fix it. 2 weeks after the new on was put it, it started acting up again. NOw they are giving me the run around.

Geez...give your car a break...it wasn't meant to drag race. If that's the only time you have the problem, it's probably normal. You may hit the cut-off or something.

Default 98 accord auto tran EX V6

My ride has 68000 miles and I've been having a 'tran slam' problem for about 2 mos now. The transmission slams into gear sometimes from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3. Took it to my local H dealer and they found a broken motor mount, which cost $300+ to replace. Didn't help much, though...

They now recommend a new transmission for upwards of $5K! They must think we're all :stupid: I took the dealer and H America to task on a radio in a used Civic I bought for my daughter, with great success. But I don't think I'll have such luck with this one...

I'm going to be seeing by b-in-law over Turkey Day. He's pretty good at diagnosing/fixing this type of stuff. I'll see what he thinks and post it, if useful. Otherwise, it might be best to take advantage of that GREAT resale value and dump the piece of @*#!

Can anyone advise where to get some good written 'ammunition' online for my upcoming 'battle royal' with Honda on my 98 tranny problem???

Default 99 EX V6 Auto Transmission Issues

I have a 99 EX V6 with 50,000 miles. My tranny started to act up last week. Brought it in today to get looked at. I think we are getting screwed on this one. The pattern is pretty obvious in this forum alone. A few of us have the exact same transmission shifting slamming issues after about a half hour drive. I will post the outcome with the local dealer. If you have the same issue please drop me a line. I will use it when I talk to my dealer. At least I know I am not alone in this one.

Regards,
Jason
