Occassional Vibration
I did a search and didn't find anything right away, so I thought I would ask my question.
I have a 98 Accord EX sedan. I replaced both my front rotors and pads a couple of days ago. Right away, the vibration from my warped rotors went away, but then a few hours later, I starting getting that same vibration back in the steering wheel, except now it was off and on. It will appear for a few minutes, and then not show up at all for a while. Probably once or twice in a drive I will experience a vibration, then nothing at all.
I'm wondering if it might be my tires, since they are near end of life, but I know what tread separation feels like, and I know it definitely is not that at all.
Anyone else experience anything after replacing the rotors.
I replaced them with OEM Honda rotors, ordered from the online Honda eShop from Owners Link.

I just changed mine, and with a pair of cheap-o's. I haven't had any problem at all. Did you break them in right? You can't be too hard on them for the first few miles. And you have to make sure that when you do heat them up (enough that you can smell them) that you don't lay hard on the brakes at a stop. I believe this can make a permenant indent on the rotors from the hot pads. Just a thought though. I might try replacing the tires too before you worry anymore about the brakes. It could very well be the tires.
werd...my buddy just changed his tires out on his Taurus. I really didn't think his old tires were the reason for his terrible steering wheel vibration, but replacing them seemed to have fixed the problem.
did u have the tires rotated/ balanced recently? why i ask is my sister had her 90 corolla tires rotated and balanced like 2 weeks ago. her steering wheel started to wobble n she had a bad pull to the lt. i took her car in this weekend to the same place and i asked them to rerotate them and rebalance. then i asked them to tell me which tires were not balanced, out of round and which rims r bent. turns out she had a bent rim on the dr front and an unbalanced tire on the dr rear. so the rerotate and balance got rid of the wobble and pull. still has the vibration but a new rim should fix it. she has plenty of tire tread. she has new rotors, 1 axle and 1 bearing.
being front wheel drive u will notice bent rims on the front axle more then the rear. she is getting a replacement rim for the bent rim. its slightly bent and holds the tire but its bent enough to pull the steering wheel and make the wheel wobble on its own.
if your tires r worn replace them. most have tread markers on them u can feel them as u drive down the road. u can see them. u will notice braking isnt as quick or smooth. u will hear squealing as u turn. u will start to collect road hazards. nails esp. u will feel most road imperfections and it will feel like u need front end parts and u dont. new tires will feel much better on the road.

I'm about a millimeter from my wear bars on the tire. I'm going to replace them next month. I halfway suspect that it is the tires. They are ready for a rotation. I still have good solid even tread on them - i'm pretty paranoid when it comes to keeping even air pressure. I have never had them rebalanced though. But since I'm so close to purchasing new ones, I may just rotate them for now.
I don't experience the vibration when at idle. It is only at maybe 50 and up that I feel it.
I did my best to be gentle with the brakes at first. I'm pretty gentle anyways, I'm not a hard braker - I try to drive as smooth as possible.
One thing I did notice on the rotors is that on the edges, part had a straight hard corner edge, and on other parts the edges were more like a rounded corner/edge. Is that just part of the manufacturing process?

Yea, I may stop at Discount Tire and have them re-balance for me, since I bought the tires there originally.
I'm thinking about the replacements being the Yokohama YK520's - I put them on my wife's Altima and it was a HUGE improvement - practically no road noise, much softer ride, yet was much more responsive.
I have the YK420's on the Accord, and they were a huge difference over the crappy OEM Michelins that were on the car. But the road noise isn't so hot, and I'd like a slightly softer ride.
