MAJOR Oil Leak 90 accord
i have a 92 lx. my drive belts r on the drivers side of the engine and my oil pan is on the passenger side. so im not real sure where your oil leak is located. our generation is getting up there in age so they will be leaking out of every orifice. if its coming out of the timing belt case that would be drivers side where the drive belts are located. there r a few seals inside the case that leak. the balancer shaft seal can leak out most of your oil fairly rapidly.. ie in minutes. it was a problem with the 90 to 97 4 cylinder engines. the distributor has a seal also. oil sending unit can leak. valve cover can be leaking along with front and rear main seals. oil pan seal also. u can try changing the oil and add some dye to it, so u can get an idea of where the oil is coming from. oil can be coming from anywhere. when u drive it gets blown everywhere.
hi there, since your vehicle is over 16 years old there would be certain things you need to replace. check to see when it was that you've last did your timing belt. the leak that comes from around the belt could possibly be that the crank seal inside the timing components is bad and that's what's leaking. as for the oil pan, yep that should be changed too. now if it's leaking in between the engine and the transmission then it could be the engine rear main seal that's bad. look into these things and let me know if this reply helps you at all. good luck with your car and take care. if you need any of these parts please call me at 626.369.5454 for quotes on these parts.

Most likely the forward balance shaft seal popped out and soaked the timing and balance shaft belts in oil. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR until you figure it out. Honda makes a "seal retainer" the holds those in because they were so troublesome.... I think it was standard on 94-up Accords. It's, like, $5. I retrofit them on ALL 90-93 accord timing belt jobs I do!!
What you're most likely seeing is the oil that's pouring out of the drain hole at the bottom of the lower cover.
How's your PCV valve?? if it's clogged or sticking closed it'll pop those seals out in a second.

That looks like the OEM part.... not sure if that place it reputable, but any dealer can hook you up. As you can see it's very pricey

ok i put my car onto some lil ramps so i can see it more clearer, and yea its pouring out around the button belt on the driver side, im guessing thats the crankshaft. how much work is it if i did this job myself, o and my timing belt, and water pump is new, my pcv i never have touched it since i got the car.
the seals werent replaced when the timing belt and water pump were replaced? replacement would have taken care of the leaks in the timing belt cover area. pcv valves last years in the old hondas. i changed my original one out may 05. no oil leaks yet. its a cheap part u can quickly replace yourself. be careful removing it. the grommet and hose may have harden or split and need to be replaced also. autozone sells the grommet and hose real cheap. if its bad your car will run rough and over time the oil seals can blow. engines this old have leaks (air, fluid, fumes). they r not air tight anymore.
Er, timing belt WAS new
get a factory service manual from Helm and dig in !!! Take your time and follow the directions. Replace the timing belt and the balancer belt. Change the PCV valve and grommet. clean the whole area out with Brakleen when you have it apart. Don't go too crazy with it on the rubber parts. Make sure you get all the oil off the timing cover gasket or it'll swell up and be impossible to get back in there. Obviously replace the front balance shaft seal and install a retainer. Water pump's fine if it's new. If the belt was recently changed the crank bolt should come right out.
Job pays around 6.5 hrs at the dealer ... that should give you an idea of what to expect.
DO NOT START THAT ENGINE UNTIL YOU CHANGE THE BELT !!!!!
Not only can it pump itself dry of oil in seconds, but it can break that oil-soaked timing belt and destroy the engine.
