98 Accord 4cyl Balancer Belt issue
Just did timing belt, thought I was smart in painting a mark on each pulley/belt before removal. Somehow I missed marking the rear balancer gear. How do I align that with TDC of crank ???
I learned with the 2.3L engine, you don't need to lock the cam, when at TDC the cam is at rest! This job was nowhere near as bad as I thought, but having all the parts beforehand is real helpful.
If no leaking, is it worth replacing seals on cam and balance shafts ?? that looks like more work than I want to do. Thoughts ???
TIA, Tom

I think there is a whole in the block to place a bolt to hold the balancer shaft in one place during this job. Haven't looked at my Helms in some time....don't quote me on this.
Else aren't there marks on the balance gear for lining up with the timing bear once the belts are on and adjusted?
