I tried a new thread and didnt get any response.

I have a set of 17x8 et38 Momo M1 chromes I want to put on my 03 accord coupe. I wanted to put a wider tire on than stock and still be able to drop the car an inch or so. The 17 stock size is 215/50/17.

I think the Acura RL's use 235/45/17's anybody have experience?

Again, that's not an offset. The spec's are wrong. I'm sure they'll fit, but it'll look gay as shit.

Reading Wheel Sizes: per discountTiredirect.com
Example Size: 15x7 4-100 40S
15 - Rim diameter in inches.
7 - Width of rim in inches.
4-100 - Bolt Pattern.
4 - Number of lug holes in wheel.
100 - Distance between lug holes (in millimeters).

Some wheels have multiple bolt patterns.

15x7 4-100/108

This wheel fits cars with both 4-100 bolt patterns and 4-108 bolt patterns.

40S - Offset and finish

40 - Measures in millimeters how far back or forward the mounting surface (face) is from the center of the wheel.

S - Silver Finish.

So they appear to be +40mm offset, they'll stick out a good deal on an Accord. You can go a bit wider, but not at drastic as you want to go.

The goal is to keep the height close to stock for speedo reasons and keep the width within the wells or really close. I bought the M1 rims because I have seen them on lexis and MB cars and they look classy. My coupe is stock black and I dont want a tuner or race look.

So you think a 38 offset rim will stick out to far. The stock rims sit back a little and they are around a 45 offset or so?

one of the 17 tire option sizes given for the 03 coupe is 225/50/17 so one up is 235/45/17. I was hoping that someone has done something similar

Factory is +55mm, +38mm will stick out bad. I have +42mm and they are damn near even with my fenders. 225mm's wide will be plenty for the average person.

Here's how you find out how off you'll be.

I have checked the dims and the speeds are fine. I did a search on Discount tire and most of the options for a 16" wheel is around a 38 offset.

If I dont like the way the rims look I can get rid of them. I didnt want to have to buy and mount tires if they wouldnt fit the car. It's hard to believe that no one has tested the 235/45/17's on a 7gen and posted it.

I think I'll stick to the 225/50/17 to be safe though unless some post more info.

You're better off searching for wheels based on specs that work, not what a person behind a desk that doesn't even drive an Accord thinks workh:
