98 isn't the early 90's...

I doubt the paint changed much from 98 to 00.

My car is black, doesnt get much darker. Regular hand wash+Hand wax= No clear coat failure.

my car is a 1996 accord original paint and it looks great. I wax my car once a year only and I regular go to those car wash. I think your car got a crappy paint job. maybe your car was repainted and they just did a shitty job .

There's no oxidation on my 98 Accord (Dark Currant Pearl) and I think I waxed it.... twice in the two years I drove it haha

The more I look at this the more it looks like machine carwash over time damage.

The wear on the roof lines up with the wear on the door almost.

I take my leased car through the car wash a lot, my heaviest swirl marks are on the rear of the car as apposed to the front, much in the same fashion.

If this was defective paint it would have peeled off, this paint has been effectively buffed or sanded off.

different stores charge different prices.

price depends on quality of work.

Hi
I wanted to share this experience with the folks who responded to my posting. I opened up a case at American Honda to look into the paint damage on my vehicle. i did send them pictures of the damage. After much deliberation, they agreed to pay me $700 toward the damage and allowed me to get it repiared at the body shop of my choice. Since I am selling the vehicle, this worked perfectly well for me as I can get a better price for it now.
Thanks
