Default installed radiator, but overheated

Installed radiator with 2 of my friends, but when I drove back home, the car started raising in temperature.....What might it be?
We plugged back the radiator hoses and the tranny oil hose as well. We put 50/50 mixture of coolant and water as well. How much does it take to fill up the radiator?

Also, when I shut off the car and take the key out the fan continued to spin. Is this suppose to happen when your car overheats?

Last time I filled up my coolant I (being the dumba$$ that I am) forgot to tighten the radiator cap and it sent the stuff everywhere in the engine bay. Well when I filled the resivor (sorry can't spell) tank up I started the engine and it suck the tank dry, I had to fill the resivor up 4 times before the whole system was full again. As for fan running after car is shut off, my prelude does it all the time.

You may also want to replace the thermostat.
