Yup, true story. The ports, unfortunetly, have to be manually cleaned out on V6 engines because none of the intake 'vaccum' air goes through it, just exhaust air that has a shitload of carbon in it.

how do you check the EGR port cleanliness?
also, i recall reading in my prelude manual that if the brakes die, downshift using the shifter in the auto version of the car, whether its for extreme/life saving situations or not, they werent very clear.

No, that's exactly right. You have to remove the intake manifold and it's painfully obvious where it is.
