Antenna Mast Stuck Up...please Help
My antenna mast is stuck up. The motor went bad I think. Where can I get the antenna/motor part? Any help is greatly appreciated. I need to buy the motor which comes with the mast I believe. I have a 92 Honda Accord 4 dr sedan. Thanks.

Just get a nonpower universal antenna. What happens is that the teeth on the mast get worn and part of the mast remains in the channel. The motor has to be removed to fix it correctly. The motor usually doesn't go bad, can you hear it run when turning on the radio?

Fac90, i can hear it grinding when I turn on the radio. I took it to my friend and he said that it was the motor b/c of the way it sounded. He then said it is 300 for the antenna motor. Geesh!! Thats alot.

well ur friend is ripping you off, all i did was buy the antenna mast off ebay for like 14 bux, aftermarket of course. what happened is that if you can still hear ur motor running that means its good. the plastic piece of the antenna mast is broken thats why it cant go up and down anymore. when you buy ur antenna mast follow the instructions that comes with it. lube it with a petroleum product such as grease... or u can use vasaline. its just that time over time the grease wears out and causes the plastic teeth on the mast to crack and break.

yea, if you still hear the motor working, thats a good thing (as a new antenna from honda is around $300, of course used ones can be found MUCH cheaper)
A non-power universal antenna is a cheap alternative for you, just dont forget it when you go through a car wash.
The best way to go is like he said, purchase the replacement mast on ebay, I bought an OEM replacement one for $17 shipped and it came with VERY detailed instructions as well as phone support if needed.
If you need to put the antenna down for a car wash or something in the mean time, have someone turn the radio off while you gently guide the antenna back down, it will go.
