Default Transmission Flush Procedure, work for 6th gen Accord?

As I was reading the 2002 CRV ower's manual, I found this piece on page 260
"To thoroughly flush the transmission, the technician should drain and refill it with Honda ATV-Z1, then drive the vehicle a short distance. Do this three times. Then drain and refill the transmission a final time"

My question is, would this apply to 6th gen Accord? Most people in this forum would disagree with the transmission flush because the dirty stuff would get back to the gears and that is bad. But if the owner manual (from CRV) suggests a transmission flush as quoted above, would you do it for your car? I always drain and fill and this is the first time I heard about a flush like that.

Technically that's NOT a "flush." That's a change, a drive, another change, a drive, and another change. It's to ensure that all the fluid gets replaced.

Bad terminology.

Flushing is where they hook a machine up to your tranny and push through new fluid to get out the old along with the crap. That's not good for the Hondas, at least the Accords.

So, yeah... You just need to CHANGE your tranny fluid.

That's a $120 fluid change from Honda, not a flush. A flush is when they use a (typically) pressurized solvent to clean off all the gears and clutches inside the transmission and then refill it with ATF.

This thread IS talking about auto trannys. Manuals drain almost completely. Automatics have a torque converter that doesn't drain, so you only get 1/3 or 1/2 of the total fluid each time you drain.

Could I drain and re-fill it on the first two times with the same fluid?
Then the third will be fresh new one?
