It's basically every light that you can think of that dims when you turn the lights on. So.. it's every light in the Gauge Cluster with the exception of the warning lights.. so - that would be all the back-lights, the odometer light, the back lights that tell you what gear you're in, etc. The clock backlight, the heating control backlights, the lights in my button cluster with fog light switch, sunroof, traction control. My headunit dims when the lights turn on, but it's an aftermarket radio with it's own power source.

However, the indicators for the fog lights, defrosters, etc. all work if that device is turned on at the time.

That's the response I got from our awesome dealership here. All the fuses are good. I even pulled the fuse for the dash lights just to verify that it was the one that in-fact was responsible for power to the backlights for the gauges, buttons, etc.

If the fuse was bad, the backlights for the odometer, auto climate control and clock LCD's would never come on, correct? They do in-fact power up when you turn on the car, but they go out when the light switch is turned to parking light or head light.

Dammit.. I'm hoping that just sounds expensive and difficult to do.

Thanks man. Looks like the 2000's had a recall for this issue. Missed it by a year.

Default SCS Service Connector (07WAZ-001010A)

Why is it that I see this Service Connector and Part # referenced a million times, but no one asks where to get one?

Does anyone know where to get one of these bad-boys?

an scs service connector is just a plug that jumps two pins in a harness together

you can buy one here - http://www.handa-accessories.com/elementmaint.html

or just make your own using some speaker wire and manually shorting out the 2 leads.

2001 Honda Accord EX V6

I'm in the midst of an LED conversion of all of my dash lights. Like a moron, I shorted out the bulb for Fog Light switch and all the interior lights went black. I checked every single fuse in this car, and that is not the issue. The only thing that I can think is that it's the Relay that controls the illumination and dimming of my interior lights.

If you own an Accord of this model, you know that when you turn the car on - your Odometer and Clock will illuminate brightly. When you turn the headlight switch either to Parking Lights or Low Beams -- the odometer and clock will dim and the rest of your interior lights will turn on (gauge cluster, heating controls, etc.)

When I turn MINE on, the odometer and clock lights illuminate, and when I turn the parking lights or low beams on -- the odometer and clock lights go completely out and no other gauge, heating control light come on.

Now.. when you turn on the parking lights, a relay clicks -- the sound comes from the passenger side. I believe the relay is inside the box that has the fuses on the outside of it. IF that is so, how would one remove that box and replace a relay?

I'm trying to avoid taking it to a dealer at all costs because.. well.. they all suck around here.

Oh.. did I mention that this is my wife's car, and I have to be reminded that this doesn't work several times a day. HEEEEEELLLLPPP!!!
sounds like you blew your driver's side multiplexer unit it's about $150 or so theres no way to diagnose it because the unit won't know it's bad because you blew the output transistor, I replaced several units for the ame reason you discribed ,the clock, odometer works fine at night but when you turn the park lights they go black. usally they short out the radio dimer lead tho .
