Default JDM headlight people

For all of you with the JDM headlights... how is the beam pattern compared to the stock headlights? and did you wire both filaments of the H4 bulb for low/high or just use the one filament?

Also, do the actual Stanley lights from Japan have glass lenses? or are they plastic also? Basically i'm wondering if its worth it to get a pair of actual JDM lights or if the "generic" look alike ones are just as good.

Anyone with these lights please leave me your feedback as to how you like them... I like the looks and want a pair... I just wanna see how all of you like them first.

Thanks a lot!

depos do have a lhd pattern: the beam flares up to the right, away from oncoming traffic. i think the beam patter is better than stock, sharper cutoff, and the h4's light up the road much better, kinda like my mom's slk230

i havent had time to wire the highbeam in the h4. the only thing u need is a relay to switch off the low beams when the high beams are on (the heat from both filaments will blow the bulb).
my h1's are wired to my factory fog switch now and aimed lower, like aux. driving lights.

When civic/preludes use the high beams on H4 bulbs, do the low beams switch off as well?

TypeSH: yes, the dual filament switches between the two, it doesn't just activate the other.

for the jdm lights, i dunno bout the fako ones, but on the real deals the outter bulb is an H4 and the inner is an H1. The outter lights provide high and low beam in one while the inner is used as a foglight. You can substitute an H4 harness for an H1 since the H1's are a kinda rare (97+ prelude foglights use them) and just leave two of the connections unused. To wire them correctly you'll need a set of relays to switch the H4's. Word of caution, those inner "fog lights" are bright as hell... they seemed to be aimed a little high and a bit bright to be fogs so i just use them as my high beams.

you really can't tell the diff b/t the real ones and the fakos unless you look real close. they're both plastic and look identical from a distance, i haven't had a chance to compare the beam pattern side by side... don't kno if i really care that much. =]

get the real ones for bragging rights, the fake ones to be practical, altho neither is legal.

the real jdm headlamps have a slight black tint to the lens if that's important to u. When my friend did his s2k projector retro we noticed a LARGE decrease in light intensity, but it did look bling bling

man, i tried the h4 high beam this with the rrelays but it wouldnt work. I would just get constant high beams off thte H4. I dunno if it was the realy that was wrong or what but everything was wired right, it just didnt work. Only bad thing about the depo's is the way the light bulbs go in them. They are a ***** to remove and change for the frist time. afterwards you get used to it but if you unscrew that screw all the way, which usually happens, you're kinda screwed. Luckly the metal attaching arm will still lock into place somehow, but not as god as it prolly could be

I have the h4 wired with the 3rd prong. 87 goes to the light, 30 to the battery, 85 to an ignition source, and 86 grounded. I have real day time running lights with this configuration from the outer bulbs. The headlight switch is in the off pos when they are on. They are about 50% intense.

But when I turn my headlights on, that mode shuts down and goes to regular old h4 mode (I think)

Anyway I got cool day time running lights that come on with the car and off with the car without all the lights being on.
