Seeking opinion on intakes
after some research it would appear that there can't be a serious difference between one brand and another, and since the Weapon-R tends to be more expensive I'm inclined to opt for less cost vs. good looks. if I recall correctly, AEM runs about $175 at the local shop vs. $250 for Weapon-R with the RAM air kit. we'll see what they have to say about that.

btw, AEM's have a special intake horn/velocity in the filter of the intake. along with a tuned length, its actually *designed* to make the most hp. they dont just use 3" pipes and a regular filter. thats why their pipes arent as big sometimes. sport compact car tested the aem cai w/ a non-aem filter and lost 4-6hp compared to an aem filter
i think all aftermarket intakes are *designed* to make the most HP, but I'm hoping to find the best intake for my car specifically. do you know what brand the 'non-aem filter' was?
thnx for the info....

intakes don't make sh*t for power. it is all make believe unless you're running a real high-hp application where the airbox would be choking for air, in which case you could justify the need for an AEM/Iceman CAI--but i don't think anyone here makes 300-400hp.
i would agree that a k&n is all you need to sound a little aggressive and perhaps get a couple more mpg. the oem airbox is engineered very well and shouldn't need to be replaced, so the home depot route shouldn't need to be an option. if you're worried about how it'll look, then just do what i did... go and get a $35 polished intake off eBay and be happy.
Yes, i had an iceman on my car and no, it didn't add 50hp or whatever they claim... i replaced it bcs i wanted some bling bling in my engine bay instead of a big cheap plastic tube.
real power comes from real mods, not replacing air intakes.

go with whatever... there all about the same, but let me add another point, i had an AEM CAI fake me out intake at first, and that thing was poorly made, my local shop claimed it has the same exact dimensions as a real AEM CAI, same material and performance, but my friend, who had got the real AEM at the same time, his has no problems. his looks better, and his piping doesnt seem to be all busted up(mines seem to have little dents), and i take care of my car better than him, washing my car inside and out, driving much slower than him, avoiding potholes, and going over speed bumps so carefully, cleaning my K&N filter.... anyway, so be careful of knockoffs.. and one more thing, i noticed very little difference in performance, best things about them is that they made me seem like when i floored it, it sounded like i had some power... which i knew i didnt LOL. and when u turn on the car and turn it off, sounds pretty nice. i dont kno, but my friend who has an AEM hot air intake, doesnt sounds as nice, i dont kno y, when he turns on his car, doesnt make that "wooshing" noise. while me and my friends with CAI's, it does. anyway, btw, on some cars, i think intakes do something, like my friends 5 speed integra special edition(same motor as RS, LS), that made his car quite a bit faster, he raped me alot more after he got an AEM CAI. made 14-15 HP supposedly to the wheel according to one of the magazines(i dunno bout that, but sure did something). it gets more HP than the GSR does from AEM CAI, perhaps GSRs have better intake system to begin with, or whatever engine reason. but yes, on accords, they dont do much i guess. get AEM!!! =) all my friends love them.

but perhaps I'm lending to much credit to a guy whose self portrait looks like this....
and that will be the last keystroke I waste on replies that have nothing to offer.
