Default Seeking opinion on intakes

I have an affinity for Weapon-R (not for the hype, but) because I had a V-2 filter in my 90 Legend, and it treated me well. I pretty much had my mind set on a Dragon intake, but have heard mixed reviews over different filters. I would like to poll the audience for opinions based on EXPERIENCE. I am looking to purchase the full intake with the cold air induction kit.

2001 Accord V6 sedan

-My main concern is performance (I may purchase future upgrades such as exhaust later)
-as well as durability (I intend to race, but might have this car for 4 years)
-looks are nice, but secondary to everything else
-name means nothing (beyond reputation based on experience and fact).

About $250 is my price limit. What's the word? Thanks in advance....

intakes are a waste of money but i guess every rice boy needs one so they have "Honda Performance"

K&N filter with some Home depot tubing to the wheel well does the same thing for far less

I am seriously not interested in getting in to a debate in this thread. And since I every vehicle I have ever owned has never had a logo sticker, body kit, or spoiler boosted at roof level I hardly think I qualify as a 'rice boy.'

If you have factual data (dyno test, etc.) or even anecdotal data (compared an intake system vs. a drop in filter w/tubing in the same car and noticed NO difference whatsoever), then I'd gladly listen. Since either option requires spending money, I'd just as soon go all the way if the difference is there.

What I do know is that the difference in performance between my Legend stock and my Legend w/the V2 was like night and day. With that experience I literally feel the limitations of the stock exhaust as it suffocates at the top end of the power band when I floor it.

no you notice an actuall diffrence with Turbo/engine swap/ or Nitrous, not a CAI which is only a mental thing

but get an AEM I guess, everyone "thinks" they are the best

exactly... everyone "thinks' they are the best. I'm trying to find someone who knows. I have a feeling the differences in the end are minimal, but we'll see if anyone has anything to offer. Here's an example of the difference between Iceman an a K&N drop in on an integra:

in one of the first import tuners, the aem cai made 15hp on a gsr, at the wheels. that was on the dyno, where there isnt that much cold air going to the filter. the aem cai made a noticeable diff in performance on my accord, compared to a stock intake w/o resonator

honestly, the intake is nice to have if you want that small little boost of a little boy running behind your car pushing it, but it doesn't make too much of a difference besides the noise.

personally, i think anybody that thinks that intakes qualify is rice is misled. i guess having a fast car is rice too...(which some, more practical-minded people would agree with)

but we should all be open minded and voice our opinions anyway. oh yeah, and i voted for the aem cai. my next consideration for you would be to get the k&n drop in filter and remove your resonator. i find that to be a great alternative to an entire CAI and to prove economically and practically intelligent of a choice to make.

Do you really want to open your hood to show everybody some home depot tubing and filter????

No, go for the AEM. If you dont care for the looks, just get one of the cheaper colored AEM's. Mine ran me about $240 and I love it. Sounds great and gives a little extra umph, especially during
V-tec engagement.

Home depot...ha ha ha.
