yes OHS i did a repair simiar to that, but i made sure it was all cosmetic damage, then it was mostly bang everything near true shape, cut and replace what was unsalvageable, and there was some reinforcment on the top of the windshield (between windshield and moonroof) to build the minor caving up to a level surface. but once again, then damage was cosmetic not structural. i can easily simpitize with your situation, my mother has much the same situation and i did many repairs on her viehicles. and for my girlfriend i practicly rebuilt from ground up a 89 accord that runs like a dream (parents died at 5 and gardiuns will not spend a dime on her). but still no matter how good of a cause dont let the sympaty cloud your honest judgement, you dont want to cause her more harm down the road, maybe you could try a salvage sale, and credit her the money for another car? for less cost than you reparing it?
