go with a full retro or just sell the HIDs to someone that will put them to proper use. HIDs in the stock headlights, no matter how you do it, SUCK! You'll blind oncomming traffic (no matter what shields u add or "eyelids) and the output will be terrible. Halogen headlight reflectors are NOT designed to work with HID.

Ride in a car with OEM hid and then hop in a car with a stupid "kit" in stock lights... you'll laugh... like I do everytime I hear of someone sticking HID in their OEM halogen headlights.

If you want HID "look", go with "blue" halogen bulbs... if you want HID Performance, do a full retro-fit with OEM HID Projectors!

Oh, and one more thing... the Matsushita ballasts that are used on the Maxima are not the best for retro fits, as they are not totally sealed. There are many other ballasts that are better suited for a retro fit.

Isn't there a company out there yet that makes HID kits to replace the stock headlights? I mean even if they were expensive(like more than $500) there would be a huge market for those. I know I'd like to buy something like that that's just a direct replacement without all that retro fitting and glare towards oncoming traffic to deal with. Any ideas there?
