I think I will change it about every 10k. I think that should do fine? Of course only with Honda ATF.

Now, how often should gasket be changed?

Way too soon. It's bad to change ATF too often, but I'm not sure why. I've read it in many places.

I have no idea what gasket you're talking about.

Hi V6 - thx for reply. So, I should NOT change ATF at 10k? What would you suggest?

Also, do I tell dealer to drain and fill (once) or each time three times?

Thx

If you're actually going to let the dealer do it for whatever ungodly amount they charge, talk to a tech and ask then let him do it how he's been trained to do it. They know more than anyone about this stuff. Change your tranny fluid as specified in the owner's manual, Honda knows more than we do.

This is my opinion, people are going to disagree but I believe there is maintaing a car properly and also overly maintaining the car to the point where you're doing more harm than good or just wasting your time.

Hi V6,

I have been following your many posts and I tend to put a lot of weight in your opinions because I think you are very knowledgable. The manual does not recommend this be changed until 30k. The dealer says every 20k.

What do you think? When to change ATF first time and when subsequently?

I think the dealer likes $$$ and they make more if you do it more often I think. I'd like to hear the opinion of a Honda technician.

I'd follow the recommended intervals from Honda, but I would do the first change sooner like others have said because you might have extra manufacturing material in the fluid...but I'm not sure how Honda manufactures the gears and if they pressure wash them to remove extra material. I'd imagine they do and are quite anal about it at this point.

I'm still saying 10K for the 1st tranny fluid change. (not every 10K, but @ 10K)

When you break in the transmission, you'll have the most metallic shavings in your first few months than later. It would be a good idea to get clean fluid in there for the long haul.

NJ - on a side note, I'm going to clear your trader rating. That Beeline person was a moron.

Hi,

What is trader rating? And I don't even remeber the Beeline other then that he was rude on one of the posts? I have no idea what the trading rating is (I did not trade anything) nor how I got -1?

In any event I do appreciate you looking out

Thx
