Hi,
I just bought an 03 EX 4 cylinder coupe. It has factory installed Remote Entry System with Power Window Control according to the Honda Ownerlink page. It only came with 2 keys and no keyless remote fobs.
It does not have the built in key/remote unit, just a plain old key. What I am wondering is which do I need to buy:
1. http://www.factorykeylessremotes.com/REMOTES/4500.html
OR
2. http://stores.homestead.com/usedkeyl...ory=P%2FN+4570
One is just the fob, the other is the fob with built in key. If I get the fob with built in key, will the programming instructions work?
Where do I take it to get cut?
Is there any other sort of chip in the key that is going to mean a trip to the stealer?
My preference is for the plain old fob.
Thanks for any help.

In the manual for my 97 civic ex it states: Hold the Option button on the remote then press and hold the Lock button. The light will turn on solid when you enable the beeping/honking , and the light will blink if you disable the honking.
Since I see this topic a lot I figured I'd take some time to post the Honda instructions for it. Please ask questions or request other instructions for diff cars in this thread
Enjoy.
If your car is a Honda and you don't see your vehicle's instructions, either the remote is not programmable or you didn't look hard enough.
e3nine: please link to this in the thread as opposed to pasting it in b/c it's so freaking huge.

h:But it did it! I now have three keys (one for me, one for my wife, one at home with my father-in-law for a backup) with three programmed remotes.
A small contribution is on its way via paypal.
THANK YOU!!!
Hi All,
Just picked up my EX with a non-functioning FOB. Found this forum thread and attempted to program it. All seems well up to and including the locks cycling but after turning the key off the FOB refuses to work. The battery is good and each time I try to program it following the directions it appears OK until I shut off the ign switch and try using the FOB. Anyone else experience this?
