Default Intake and Smog Test???

I was reading another thread and somebody mentioned that in California, If an Intake doesnt have a Carb #, It wont pass the SMOG Visual Test.
Does intake have anything to do with the SMOG?
Iam in Las Vegas and dont know the law here cause I just moved here from Texas and there was nothing like this over there.

Thanks alot for all the help.

What are you talking about Are you asking if it has anything to do with the test or if it has anything to do with emissions?

Yes, the intake has to be carb approved in California. We have some lame ass emissions laws...I don't know about other states, but doing any performance mods here is a pain because of it.

What year is the car if its 2002 and later no smog for a couple of years. I have had a 95 civic pass here in California with a intake on it. I guess its all in the mechanic you choose. Its only a visual inspection here in Cali. It has nothing to do with the emissions count. They even check the pressure for the gas cap here. I had to buy a new one because it couldnt keep the pressure regulated.

My car is an 03 V6.
Lets me clear something here, Is the SMOG different than Emission? if so then whats the difference. Also whats the Laws here in Nevada.
I grew up in Texas and over there they have a yearly State Inspection but no SMOG or Emission. They hook up a Cumputer to the car's ECU and gather all the data from it.
Thanks alot.

Emissions are the pollutants that a car emits...'smog' is a generic term for it, usually referring more to the laws regarding emissions tha the emissions themselves.

I don't understand if you're asking if an intake hurts emissions or if an intake will pass a 'smog' or emissions test You can find Nevada laws easily yourself by calling your local town or google'ing it or going to the nevada DMV website.

the last 3 or 4 smog checks i've had at smog-check only stations have never asked about Carb #'s. My first intake had one, but it was stolen...the car shop replaced it with some generic crap
