Default '95 Accord Gas Guage Issues

Ok, so apparently the gas guage on my g/f's accord just dropped to below E after a fill.

It has the usual issue of taking 250 miles to read half full then going all the way down to E after another 100, but my '96 did that too. Any ideas?

Also, her radio tuner stopped working as well. Related in any way? Dunno, but I could really use some help here. I looked through my Haynes Manual and found nothing on either subject. Thanks!

They have warranties for a reason. Call the service department.

eh i didn't know honda offered 10 year warranties on 95 accords....but anyway thats a very common problem in 5th accords. My 94's gauge is doing funky stuff too. It seems 95% of the time its due to a bad fuel-sending unit which is the electronic part that sits in the actual fuel take to read the level. I think i remember seeing it online for about 80 bucks, but with labor it will probably be close to like 200 considering i think you have to take the back seat out to get to that part of the tank.

Thanks! I thought this may be the issue after reading that chapter in the Haynes. I'll get out the ohmeter and check it out, see if it's not sending a signal. Yes, her warranty is long past dead; bought used just recently anyways.

BTW, if I took that post incorrectly, I will gladly remove the rant.

Help, or don't post at all. Please. Do you honestly think I haven't thought "I could call a mechanic..." I was just asking is this was a common problem that there was an easy fix for. If not, I will have my dealership fix it. Duh.

I think he thought you were having a problem with your 05 coupe I guess by looking at your user name.

Thought it was your 05, sorry. Calm down buddy. Didn't I post the TSB on this? I posted a TSB for some fuel gauge issue.

It's fine, was just a fustrating day

I'll look at that. Now, I went 150 miles in it and the guage went to between 1/4 and 1/2 tank; all were highway miles. Something has to be up with that guage...

in the 95 you don't have to remove the back seat (at least not in the sedan, don't know about coupe). You can access the fuel tank from the trunk (drop down the rear seat and remove the spare tire board) I have a bad sending unit also, and the reading on the gauge drops to E somtimes and jumps back and never reads completely full, but i haven't found anywhere online to order a new one. Just found a site that would repair mine. So for now... it's staying that way.

You can probably find one through this website: http://www.junkyarddog.com/yardsforsale.htm

Maybe not new but I am sure you can find one that works for a decent price.
