It seems 95% of the time its due to a bad fuel-sending unit which is the electronic part that sits in the actual fuel take to read the level. I think i remember seeing it online for about 80 bucks, but with labor it will probably be close to like 200 considering i think you have to take the back seat out to get to that part of the tank.
Thanks! I thought this may be the issue after reading that chapter in the Haynes. I'll get out the ohmeter and check it out, see if it's not sending a signal. Yes, her warranty is long past dead; bought used just recently anyways.
BTW, if I took that post incorrectly, I will gladly remove the rant.
