Default Ebay catalytic coverters any good?

Are the high-flow cat converters on ebay any good? my wifes car might need a new one.

also, what is the difference between normal converters, and high-flow ones?

which one of the two- regular, or high-flow will pass emissions?

Where can i find a catalytic converter that directly bolts on that will pass emissions?

Default cats

hey im not sure which cats your looking at but, the ones ive seen are just fancy looking straight pipes. they cost around 25 bucks or something like that. you can put that on your wife's car but, it will not pass emissions. the real high flow cats will pass emissions(i think) but im not sure whether or not they are worth the money.

hope that helped

The highflow converters are hollow while the regular ones that come stock on a car have a "honey comb" material in them to restric air flow.

You won't notice any difference buying a "high flow" catalytic converter. Honda makes the best cats in the industry, very free flowing and at the same time extremely efficient. Try to stick to OEM.

That honey comb stuff is the filter that allows it to pass emissions. If it did not have this it would just be an empty chamber. Even high flow cats will have this material, just a more efficent design that increases airflow thus reducing system pressure. Anything that says that it does not have the material is not a catalyic converter but rather a pipe.

Not all high flow cats have the "honey comb" material, some are just an empty tube that are designed to look like you have a catalytic converter.

I agree with you that some "cats" marketed as "high flow" do not have the honey comb material inside. My point is that these are not cats but just tubes as you say. In order to pass emissions you need a cat in the true sense of the term, not in the 25 $ ebay high flow sense. Check to make sure it has the material, if not, it will not pass emissions. Ridiculous claims of 200% increased airflow usually signify that you are buying an expensive tube, not a cheap "high flow" cat. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Honda cats may be good, but something tells me it would be expensive as all get out. I dont need to spend an arm and a leg here. I just need a decent cat, that will pass emissions.

Wedley2- is your magnaflow/carsound universal cat a high flow, or regular flow? and where did you get it from? thanks.
