Default Honda Genuwine Fluid

okay, so...under what type of fluids should i use honda genuwine, and which should i use an after market?

im assuming transmission fluid 100% should be Honda Genuwine since the tranny is a sensitive piece

how about brake fluids? power steering fluids? oils? radiator fluids? timing belts, etc, etc

what are the essential parts of the car that should absolutely use genuwine honda "parts/fluids" rather than after market brands?

The only fluid I buy from the dealer is MTF. Everything else can be bought at a local autoparts store. The tranny is a sensitive point for Hondas like you said, so it would be a great idea to buy MTF or ATF from the dealer.

The only exception that you need to worry about is power steering fluid. Most cars can just use ATF, but you must use power steering fluid formulated for Honda steering racks. Most autoparts stores carry it, but make sure that it is safe for Hondas.

amsoil makes something for honda powersteering fluid.

but id buy the brake fluid (only 2.50 for a pint?), MTF/ATf Fluid and thats about it.

i also have heard of ppl using GM/Pennzoil synchromesh for the MTF, i might tryh it out on my newer tranny.

for the coolant, the guy at the parts counter said to just use regular stuff because the newer longer lasting coolant are for the newer cars.

ATF for sure. There are aftermarket power steering fluid made just
for Honda's, but they actually can cost more then the OEM stuff.

Use only Honda Power Steering fluid, it's only a couple bucks a bottle. If you have to use non-OEM stuff, make sure it says "safe for Honda power steering systems" on the bottle.

Honda OEM only fluids:
ATF (all automatics)
Power Steering (all power steering models)
VTM-4 (Pilot, Ridgeline, and MDX rear differentials)
Dual Pump (CR-V rear differentials)

Reccomended OEM fluids:
MTF (all manual models)

The brake fluid is generic DOT3. The coolant is generic premixed ethylene glycol, but it's blue instead of the normal green. The engine oil is a high fuel effieciency rated Mobil1 standard oil.

There's definitely not a 'w' in genuine.

All auto parts stores sell a brand that says "Meets Honda/Acura". Get this or go the the dealer. A couple dollars is a small price to pay to prevent damage.

Remember, most domestic cars use the same fluid for the auto tranny and power steering, stay way from STP or Penzoil.
