im assuming transmission fluid 100% should be Honda Genuwine since the tranny is a sensitive piece

how about brake fluids? power steering fluids? oils? radiator fluids? timing belts, etc, etc

what are the essential parts of the car that should absolutely use genuwine honda "parts/fluids" rather than after market brands?

The only fluid I buy from the dealer is MTF. Everything else can be bought at a local autoparts store. The tranny is a sensitive point for Hondas like you said, so it would be a great idea to buy MTF or ATF from the dealer.

The only exception that you need to worry about is power steering fluid. Most cars can just use ATF, but you must use power steering fluid formulated for Honda steering racks. Most autoparts stores carry it, but make sure that it is safe for Hondas.
