Default 2005 Accord DX - Questions....

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. Just bought a new 2005 Accord DX (Special Value Package) for about $16,300 + Tax + Licensing... It comes with only 2 front speakers, no cruise control, no power door locks and no power side view mirrors. Other than that, it's pretty much the same as the other model (obviously not the V6)...

I was wondering about rear speaker installation. Does anyone know where to find the wiring diagram for the stock head unit that comes with the new Accords? How easy would it be to install rear speakers?

Also, would changing the brake lights/headlights cause any change in the warranty??

Thanks...

Default Rear speakers

Changing the Heaglight, tailight or any other light will not effect your warranty. Try to stay within the range of the recommended wattage/voltage and you will never have any problems. Dont buy the NOKYA PURPLE bulbs cause they are piece of crap.
About the speaker, Iam pretty sure you have 2 rear speakers, either they are removed or blown, but the wiring should be there because your Headunit has 4 outputs on DX and 6 on EX models.
Changing the speakers is a piece of cake. Just Pry out the plastic covers on top of them. Unscrew the factory screw, put your new speakers and put new screws, you are set to go. Make sure they are 6x9.

I just upgraded mine to 240W Pioneer with 80W RMS and they sound great, but I have an EX with a 6 disc changer so I dont know if they will sound good with yours. Good luck.

Rear speakers are optional on the 7th gen DX accords. So no, he does not have them there.

Ok, yes, I didn't have any speakers with the car. However, I bought 2 Pioneer 220W speakers yesterday and installed them. A wierd grey connector is on the rear speaker wiring in the new Accords (that come without speakers). So I clipped it off, and connected the speakers. However, I notice that there is extremely poor bass from the rear. Almost no bass. I doubt it's a speaker problem as they are brand new. When I turn the Fader on Full Rear (R 9) there is almost no bass. If I check individual speakers on the rear L & R, they put out more bass individually than they do together. Maybe I've connected them wrong?

The 220W pioneers got an RMS of 35W, which is good enough for a DX since your headunit is only 30W per channel, as far as connecting them I dont think its is because of that but try connecting the wire the other way
I dont understand why you are not getting the Bass.
Try putting speakers with a better RMS and it might works for you.

OK, so the Pioneer's sucked, I tried all wiring combinations, and the same result, NO BASS... Could it be because of the foam layer on the Honda grills is touching the woofer?

I returned the speakers and got different ones just to be sure... Will try and install them tonight. ALso in the process, I lost several clips that hold the grill down in the rear deck...or inbetween the rear deck and the metal.... Oh well....

You didn't need to hack off the OEM connector, you could have purchase a $5 connector with your speakers to use the OEM plug. That may void a speaker/audio warranty.

Have you tried the honda opp. speakers from the LX or EX models?
