2001 Civic LX A/T
Car only has 60,000 miles on it. Bought it from neighbor who had it sitting in her garage for years. Problem is that the car shakes VIOLENTLY at idle when placed in reverse with foot on brake (Not moving). The RPMs on the engine drops down around 500 rpm. All of the motor mounts have been replaced. The shaking goes away when you rev the engine above 800 RPM. This is the only problem in an otherwise pristine car.

The lowest it should idle is around 750-800 rpm.
does the 500 rpm idle only occur with your foot on the brake and when placed in reverse?
are there any vacuum tubes attached to the automatic transmission?
if so, check them for leaks.
take care,

No vacuum leaks.
Only occurs with foot on brake and in reverse.
Have changed out the MAP and IAC.
Did an idle relearn.
Transmission fluid level is correct.
Took off and tested all solenoids on the transmission. Solenoids worked and no dirt or debris in the screens.
None of this made a difference.

Check the wiring diagram for a connection between the ECU and the reverse light switch. Maybe that connection is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Also, clean the ground connection to the transmission and the thermostat housing (main ground for the ECU).
i think the ECU is getting bad data and then doing the wrong thing.
