Default Help!!!

I recently purchased a 87 Honda Accord LXI. And I've been looking for ideas on things I can do to the car. I would love to hear feedback from people considering that I am a newbie/novice to car mods. But here is some of my ideas/questions.

1) I was considering a engine swap because the stock Accord LXI engine is rather poor in horsepower (hovers right around 98-100 hp if i remember correctly), but anyway what options do I have for a 5 speed automatic? And I would be willing to swap to manual transmission.

2) JDM Parts. More specificly JDM lens for all the exterior lights, such as lens, and brake lights... I was actually looking for some clear lenses but no luck as of yet... Any ideas?

Like I mentioned before any feedback or help would be really great. So i look forward to replys and thanks for trying to help in advance.

hmm, yea...for engine swap, you are going to have to go for the b-series such as the b18 and b20's. i heard you need custom mounts and only a couple places made em (really hard to find)... i thought the LX-i was around 120?...sine it was fuel injected and the others were carbed?

as for the JDM shit, good lck with that, i havent seen much aftermarket exterior parts other than liek the basic clear corner or bumper lights.

suspension will probably be one of the easiest, DC sport only make the 3rd gen strut bar, otherwise, u'll hgave to modifiy it from a 4th gen strut bar.

hit up www.3geez.com for more info.

The 86-87 LX-I has 110 HP and the 88-89 has 120 HP the carburated ones 86-89 have 98 HP. I have a 88 LX-I and there is not alot of aftermarket support for the 3rd gen Accord. I have a K&N drop in filter and a custom catback exhaust and thats about it good luck with it and post some pics of it. Check out www.3geez.com like wedley2 said, that site will be more helpful to you for the 3rd gen.

thanx for the feedback, from what i have read the fuel injected LX-i 87 model has around 100 but then again i could be wrong. if im not mistaken it is a 2.2 liter engine... But anyway, someone mentioned to me about a swaping in an engine from a Civic SI model, i think the new models (00 and up). Make any sense? But ya i would be satisfied with clear lenses, that is actually what i was going for I also thought about doing some moding to the backlights and completely taking those out and swaping in some newer lights from newer models... All which of course is still in my head but who knows

i think you'd be better off just clearing out or smoking the tail lights...it isnt really worth the money to swap tail lights and shit.

my roommate just sold a bad ass EK1 accord to a junk yard for $35 the head gasket blew but the car still drove around and happily revved to 7k+ on its carburator. Damn i should have just bought it from him.

No, 2.0 and 110(when it was new that is). 2.2 started in 90 Accord.
The car is fine for transportation, but I wouldn't waste money swapping
engines in something that is worned out. If you want a 99/00 Si engine,
get the rest of the civic too.
On taillights, run a search on Ebay, if anyone makes them someone will
be selling them there.

Add a set of Konis and aftermarket springs (H&R, Eibach, etc.) to slam your ride. You can get bigger wheels, which allow bigger rotors, then add ss brake lines to control the extra power of an engine upgrade. You perform better if you brake better, irregardless of engine upgrade. The Konis are discontinued, but 3geez is trying to get enough people for Koni to do a custom run for 1986-89 Accord shocks. Also, judging by the votes, the custom run will be EXTERNALLY adjustable, like the koni yellows (specifically, 8041 Sport conversions). So you can have one setting for daily driving, then adjust the shocks for racing & track. I'd get you the link but the 3geez site is down today, some kind of domain registration issue. That's why I registered here today.

What's more, when you sell your Accord, you can sell the konis separately to either another 1986-89 Accord owner, or CRX owners for the fronts (20 mm. lower, so it's like its already revalved for a lowered CRX!), and 4g Accord owners for the rears (same deal, lower than the regular 4g shock, so it's like its already revalved for a slammed 4g). Do a search on Honda-Tech, and link to your selling thread.

Oh, and if you can get a hold of an SE-i in the jy, you can do a rear disk conversion of the rear drums. Just visit the 3geez site's "How to" for help.

Welcome to the club.

Peace.
