Default 2004 radio removal?

Anyone have any idea how to remove the radio from an 04 accord? I'm stumped.

I don't have the nav. screen or dual climate control, if that helps.

first the top panel with the vents needs to be removed. On the bottum of the vents there is a slot, its to the outside corner and you have to look in the vent to see it. A hooked pic works the best. You can put it in the vent at the bottum and pull the panel towards you and up slightlt. aaonce the front clips give the top ones on the dash will come right with it. Behind that there is 3 screws for the top of the radio bezel.

The rest is complicated so i attatched instruction for an accessory but it tels you how to remove the shifter trim, the pocket and the coin holder.

Once those are out of the way there are 2 8mm bolts that screw up from the bottum into the radio bracket. Once those are out then the bezel is just held in with 3 clips on the bottum edge.

Honda guy: Thanks for the info! I had no problem removing my radio/climate control unit. Do you work for Honda?

Honda guy: Thought you would like to see why I was taking my stereo out. I installed a sirius satellite radio.

I wanted it to appear "stock". I didn't want any wires hanging out all over. So, I found a receiver that fit in the "cargo box" under the stereo. I removed the box per you instructions. Drilled a 7/16" hole in the upper right hand corner of the box. This hole would allow all of the wires to pass through and be hidden. Also, the hole is small enough that if I ever sell the car, I could easily plug it with a plastic plug.

I hard wired a FM transmitter into my stereo. I spliced into the power outlet (near the coin holder) for power. Finally, I ran the antenna out through the door wire harness assembly.

I didn't want to drill into the cargo box to mount the receiver cradle (extra 4 holes), so I made a block to mount the receiver onto. It's just a 2/4" piece of oak spray painted jet black ( to match my interior ). I tapered it so it just a interference type fit. I know it sounds a little redneck like, but trust me you can't see the wood block from anywhere in the car.

It's solid as a rock, and I think it looks great!

I am an aircraft avionics technician (wire chaser) and mechanic by trade. So, this was fairly simple job. However, I needed you help to gain access to the back of the stereo. Man, Hondas are made with tight interiors!

That came out pretty good. Yeah the panels are very tight and they are also a little brittle especially when its cold out.

mounting an non-factory xm antenna outside your cab isn't necessary. I wired mine and left it on the back window sill. I've never had service issues, unless I drive under a bridge or into a tunnel.

Well, it's because I wanted to install the factory antennae so that it will look like it was on already and installed by the factory, IMO it looks pretty cool. I just added leather seats to my 05 EX so i kind of want to go the extra mile by converting it to where it looks like it came with leather seats by adding the xm satellite radio antennae on the outside. This might sound dumb and i know it is but i dont even wanna get XM, i just wanna get the antennae.
