What are good alternatives to Silverstars? I really like the output on those things, but ~50 bucks every 6 month is too much. PIAA? what type of PIAA?

if you need to remove the driver's side headlight, you can pull the windshield washer fluid thing away. it locks into this plastic bracket, and you can just slide it out. that'll help you get to the headlight. on the passenger side, there shouldn't be a problem, but it's been a while since i had my stock airbox in there, so i don't remember if it gets in the way or not

the PIAA extreems. I was really happy with their output and life span. they are a little on the expensive side, but considering how long they last compared to silverstars they are worth it.

ive had both piaa and silverstars. i gave the silverstars to my dad after i sold my 6th gen accord and he had the same problem (cold weather scenario) with the bulbs blowing. my piaa's i had for over a year and had no problem. i gave those to my sister when selling my 5th gen accord and they blew a few months after the switch over. they were the piaa platinum super white. they were an extremely white light, no hint of yellow or blue. only draw back was the price.

No problem with mine silvers and hope to have none in the future.

Though if you look at the bulb of the silverstars and a regular bulb you will see that the filament is smaller in the silverstars, meaning that there is less filament to burn up = less life span. Though you may be lucky one to get a good set and they may last for years, there brighter than any other halogen light out there even PIAA.

I had a set of Siverstars for my low and highbeams in my prelude for like 8 months, then I gave them to my brother to put in his prelude and he's had them for 8 months also. I guess I just got a really good set or something. BTW, I live in Florida, so I doesn't extremely cold, but it dips into the 20's alot in the winter.

I had my original set of Silverstars for over a year (July '03 - Feb '05) I just recently replaced them for $35.00 at Advance Auto Parts. The both blew at the same time...at night...so I had to drive home from work with my brights. I still love them. $35.00 for 19 months is about $1.85 a month. Worth it.
