What about that Purple Power degreaser? I used that stuff to clean off the funk around the inside of my gas cap compartment, and also around the inside lip of the trunk lid. Apparently gas can build up gunk around the cap, and sometimes moisture doesn't drain properly from around the inside of the trunk lid - leaves a nasty black residue. UCK!

I hear Mustangs are even worse...

At any rate, that Purple Power stuff was pretty toxic. Would Purple Power work for those areas too? Or is Simple Green more effective?

Never used Purple Power.... But I can say that Simple (Simply) Green works GREAT! Really and truly even on the heavy stuff. It might take a couple of soakings but it usually cuts most of everything right off. It's also biodegradable.

purple power works great too. Just make sure to rinse off your fenders immidiately even if you think none of it got on there. It will eat away at your clear coat if you let it sit on there to long. Spray it in the engine bay, undiluted. That stuff is really strong. Most parts you will not even have to scrub if you use that product.
