Yep, my car is doing the exact same thing. You need to buy a new parking brake cable (I bought two just to be safe). Then do this:

CAUTION: The parking brake cables must not be bent or distorted. This will lead to stiff operation and premature cable failure.

Manchester Honda in Connecticut is a great dealer to buy from. I think mine cost like $20 apiece or so.

Default Rear brakes on a 1997 Honda Civic HX

Wesside, do you want me to see if I can find anything on cleaning the EGR ports on the H22?
I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX, with approximately 98,000 miles on it. Lately I've heard a screeching/grinding sound coming from my right rear brake area. I have already jacked the car up and checked to see if it might have been a bearing, but it seems to be the two sides of the drum are rubbing against each other. What could be causing that, because I only hear that sound from time to time and it's after I come to a complete stop; and the sound is louder after the car has been running on the highway for a while.
So, what could it be?

Default 97 Accord EX, ABS light on

Hi!

Could you post a list of ABS codes and tell me how to pull the ABS codes on a 1997 Accord EX sedan with a 4 cylinder?

Thanks!
Gerry
