Is there any "real" advantage to having a shorter shift knob why is it popular to cut them down? I would think a longer shaft would give the driver more leverage to shift with less muscle.
Well, exactly. It's more of a 'ricer' thing to do unless you buy a short shift kit to go along with it. I don't really see the point of it.

You sure can buy a boot that comes with the clip. My suggestion is to call up Manchester Honda in Manchester Connecticut...they have unbelievably fast shipping and they're all good guys. Their stuff usually gets to me in 2-3 days after I order it. Just explain what you want and they'll give you a good price (probably around $20-25). Their number is 860-645-3115.

If it was me, I'd buy the whole entire shaft because I'm so anal about that stuff. But if you feel comfortable putting your own threads on it and don't mind the height, that's certainly the cheaper and easier way to do it.
