Brake system overhaul
hmmm... i took my 5th gen accord to a brake shop today, they told me my brakes needed to be serviced all the way around really badly. warped rotors, split pads, rusted components.... he said all together it would cost 500 for just the front and 250 for the back.... sheesh. he also said something about getting rotors that are pressed with the hub assembly?? is there anything that can be done, i really don't wanna spend 800 on my honda right now
Rusted components? lol. That doesnt neceseraily mean it needs to be changed. Depends what's rusted and how bad they are. The streets get salted where you live? warped rotors and bad pads do needs to be changed though, and stop driving around with the brakes on so you don't warp them again. Sounds like you need to get your lazy ass out on your driveway with some tools, something to drink, a repair manual, and a friend (if you have any that want to help) and do the labor yourself. You can get all the parts for about half the price the shop will charge for parts and labor if you shop around. And it's really not that hard to change rotors and pads.

it's not that... i mean i usually do all the work on my car myself. this just seems like too big of a brake job for me to do with no experiance, and i'd rather have it done right...if anything i would do the pads and rotors thats easy but the rotors need to be pressed which i would need a shop for. plus they are gonna be doing a brake system flush which i can't do... and dont' start telling me to bleed the brakes cause that won't work. furthermore, i know the guy and i know his prices and his labor. the job should cost about 1k but he's doing it for me for 750 including parts, plus he'll have it back on wheels today. this is what he's gonna do;
-replace all 4 rotors
-replace pads
-service all 4 calipers ( take apart, lube and adjust....) they aren't working right
-brake system flush including the ABS
-fix some brake lines
-replace fuel filter
i think he's givin me an ok deal....
5th gen have pressed like 4th... i did an overhaul from sat-wend. trust me its worth it for that price... i took 4 days due to rusted shit breaking ect.
if unexperiance dont start on 5g or 4g brakes.... just pay it

well i got it back about 7 hrs later, total cost with tax was about 820ish... but it stops WAY better than it did. he also told me who ever owned the car before me had never changed the fuel filter once..... SO BAD
mmm i never have change my fuel filter but i only have 83k miles i read somewhere here u change them at 120k miles. and the post also said it take 2 mins to change the fuel filter. and it cost like $15 or less.
u know TAS has some nice brake upgrades better than stock and a good price u can get the front complete set from $149 to $400..and change. and i know the shop around me would charge $100 to change everything n front. how often u use the brakes n the back? get some blanks and new bads and u set, i would say less than $100 for back brake kit. u can get the steel brake lines for $100something from tas. i think you could have gotten a better brake system with less money. i hope the shop who did the job use genuine honda stuff for that price. if u dont have the tools the shop does then u really can't say, because it took u so long is worth the price. when my mechanic did my brakes he took less than 2hrs to do it all. other shops were trying to rip me off ex: $100 just to change the rear brake pads. thats a 60seconds job.

the thing is, the rotors in the front and back where past their machining limit... so i had to get new ones, the pads where also new. much new hardware was added, brake system flush. I don't know about you but i have and ABS system and where the fuel filter is located is a REALLY tough spot cause it's got some brake lines running right over it plus it has no access from the bottem. i can post a pic if you would like me to. and if you think it takes 60 seconds to change the rear pads i'm sorry but you shouldn't even be in this forum. when you take off the rear calipers you must push the piston back to be able to put the thicker new pad in right?? to do that you must compelely take out the piston flush and clean out all the insides etc.... please don't tell me about stuff i already know of. i'm not stupid when it comes to suspension and braking. i think it's you who needs to go do the research here
btw, no they didn't use genuine honda oem stuff, they used aftermarket stuff that is better with a lifetime warranty
