TIP!!!! get a "stabilizer link BOLT"..... the ****ers are gonna be rusted to shit... trust me, and you get the initial POP or THUD from that being broken. then after your link bolt breaks (witch only makes one pop in turn, the cv joint goes, which you have a constant Click Click Click...) so just pick up a set at Napa for $19.58, it will save you taking off the wheel twice in 2 days...(also i used a wrench + 5 foot hollow pipe to break my Axlel nut)

i did my right side back in october 2004... now this weekend or next im getting ready for some major work...
1.) replacing Driver side CV joint (half shaft).
2.) replacing both sides Stablizer link bolts...
3.) putting on new rear Brembo discs W/ Axxis MM pads
4.) putting on new front Brembo discs W/ Brembo Sport pads
5.) Car Realignment
6.) repace Brake Light Assembely Switch

And i also need to make an appointment to get my custom stainless exaust put on

Sorry so late to reply, but I meant just tap on the breaker bar itself with the sledge if you can't break it loose by hand. And forget WD40, get some PB blaster, much better penetration.

In theory, if it is torqued the proper spec (which is pretty high...something like 150 or so) it shouldn't matter cause it won't come off. But for safety sake it might prevent the nut from coming all the way off if it did get loose.

And when I did the axle on my wifes 97 civic and my buddy's 94 Accord, the axle nut came loose real easy with a few taps on the breaker bar, so it shouldn't be too hard. Either put the wheel back on after removing the centercap or hubcap so the axle doesn't move under the weight of the car, or have a friend hold it still with the brakes (with the car on (doesn't have to be running) to get full braking power).

Tips...don't mess anything up. It's pretty easy, here in Ohio you never know when something is gonna be nice and rusted up, but once you get everything off, it's not bad.

A big breaker bar and some taps with a mini sledge are best for the large axle nut (36mm on my 99, same for my buddy's '94), and it's easiest if the car is on the ground, so do this before jacking up the car, or have someone hold the brakes with power, that'll usually hold enough for you to loosen that nut.

From there...okay, there's gotta be a DIY out there...I don't feel like typing everything out. If you have specific questions, post again here. Good luck.
I have to change my axles and was getting ready to plunk down 100 dollars for a new set since its been 3 years since the last change. Thanx to reading this i remember i have the lifetime warranty at autozone.....schweet
