Default Door Lock Actuator

Hello, my front passenger-side door lock hasn't been working on my 99' Accord LX. It will never open when you hit the lock knob or when you use the keyless entry. Of course, pulling up on the little door lock tab or using the key from the outside it opens just fine (b/c they're connected directly to the actuator or with rods). Also, I noticed that when I pull up on the tab or use the a key from the outside it will unlock all the other doors so some electronics are working. I know, generally speaking, with Honda you don't have much electrical problems compared to mechanical problems. So I figure the actuator has gone out, but I was just wondering is there any fuse or some wire harness that supplies power the actuator that could be loose or gone bad? I want to make sure it's the actuator before I bite the bullet and fork over $30 for one. Thanks in advance for the help.

Mine took a dump too. My passenger side door lock is broken and my right rear is about to break. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. My left rear door had broken before and I had replaced the door lock actuator. I've been to lazy to fix the right front door lock. When the right rear finally dies I will most likely take care of it. Don't worry Honda door locks are the bomb. Yes the problem is with the door lock actuator.

Me too!

My keyless won't work anymore (98 EX/VTEC). When it's VERY COLD outside it works fine, but as soon as it's above like 50F it doesn't work. Just the drivers side door, because with the drivers door unlocked, I can unlock the passenger door.

So this part is $30?

I believe it's the actuator...my driver's side door has been doing this for the past couple of months. It's kind of tricky to install from what I've been told...it's not difficult but it requires some tight squeezing. I have to replace mine once I finish replacing all the God damn suspension parts that the Flint roads raped.

How long after you installed it did it blow? I had mine installed in my OEM headlights for about 3 months and the right one blew then the next day the left one blew. I sent them back to Sylvania for a refund.

Yeah the problem is that I didn't keep the original packaging and receipt...they've been in there for only about 2 months. Do you think I could still get a refund?

Me either! Just go to sylvania.com and pull up their contact information. Call the number and explain your situation. They didn't care about the package, they just wanted me to send them the bulbs do they could figure out what went wrong. I got my refund check about 3-4 weeks after that.

Well, I took the actuator off of the lock assembly and hooked it up outside of the door and started clicking my unlock button to see if it would work and it didn't. I opened up the actuator and it was all gunked up. I cleaned all the parts really well, put em back in place (be careful not to lose the spring when you do this!) and then put some engine oil on the little gears and closed it back up and hooked everything back up. It's a pretty tight squeeze back there but nothing crazy. Before I messed with the actuator that door never unlocked, now it will lock 100% of the time, and unlock about 75% of the time. I'm cool with that. Saved myself $30!

It looks like the "lock assembly" (the part that actually has all the rods connecting to it, pops the lock tab up and down, and contains the latch for the door) seems to jam when it's unlocking. It's like freaking $80 to replace though. I'm content with how that door works now. Anyway, hope this helps someone.
