I think that you got water in harness plug.
Once I had a problem with civic 96. Transmition was jerking, shifting at wrong
speed, CEL came on. So i took it to a dealer and by CEL code they found exactly what wire lost connection in a plug. that was it.

Maybe when you wiped the engine off with a towel, you pulled loose a wire. Water in the engine bay should never cause a problem. I was my engien all the time on every car I've owned and never had a problem. What do you think happens when you're on the freeway and it's pouring rain.... your engine gets steam cleaned!

CHeck ALL of the enigne connections. In particular, check the throttle position sensor, cam or crank positon sensors connections and any wires on the transmission.

Take it to the dealer...... I reckon you have a 98 V6, though that year does not fall under the warranty extention, you may still yet have something that Honda may still cover under warranty, even if your warranty is up.

no it is a 4cyl pluse i took it to the shop today in the morning he hoocked it up to the computer and all what it showed was "incorrect gear ratio" he told me tha the will check all the solenoids on the tranny to see it might be that and he will charge me 60 bux just to diagnose it.

I never heard before and I couldn't find in repair manual info
about "wrong gear ratio" error.

Do you trust to that mechaic?

Theres the problem right there, you dont need to be hosing your motor down, some simple green and a rag works just fine. Now you have a clean engine bay that runs like shit!
