Best 2 Dr Coupe under 15,000?
Hey guys, complete noob to cars here. Anyways, I'm getting a car over christmas and have a max of around 15,000. I'm looking for a 2 door coupe and wondering what the best buy in your opinion is. I've heard some good/bad things about the celica, and accord coupe. Not sure about pontiacs. So, if anyone could input their advice into this thread it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
You can't get a new Accord under $15000. The Celica isn't a bad option, great fual economy, it's a hatchback, but het visibility is poor and the ride is a little rough.
Pontiacs aren't bad, but they are big cars and IMO the instrument layouts and interiors are still a little unrefined. Ride and handling isn't bad and the relaibiltiy isn;t far off Toyota and Honda these days. FORD products are junk IMO. Although the Focus has been getting descent reviews.
I love my '04 Accord Coupe. The only thing bad is the lack of rear seat room, below average trunk space, and hte ride isn;t as soft as I'd like from a midsized car. But it's handles good, SWEET engine. THe 4 cylinder has plenty of power, but I am concerned about hte long term reliability of the trannsmission. I think it will be fine for the 60,000 lease I have, but I wouldn't buy the car at the end of my lease. I also do mostly short trips in a small town... so the tranny and brakes will eb shot in 4 years.

It all depends on what you want...if you want a small car then get the Celica. If you want a larger car get an Accord, you should be able to find a nicely loaded '02 or so for 15K. They are two very different cars IMO.
Pontiac? Let's just say I'll probably never buy a domestic car. Truck, maybe...but for a car, get a Japanese car for the best quality and reliability. Stick to Honda/Toyota IMO.

I mean used, sorry. I've read some complaints about the Celica not having good acceleration/power. I heard it has trouble passing and the engine makes a lot of noise while on the interstate. If I went with a 02 accord coupe should still run fine? Also, what about a cougar/eclipse, are either of those good?
ive heard bad things about eclipses w/ engines other than the gst turbo'ed ones. of course, this is the generation previous to the current one. the latest gen eclipses...i dunno. *shrugs*
