Default CEL On!!!!!!

well shit.

I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX. Last night, the CEL started flashing, then it went solid. How do I find out what code it's throwing? Car seems to run fine....

If the MIL was flashing it was a cat. damaging misfire. you shouldn't run it if that happens

service plug is behind the glove box. with the ignition off, jump the TWO wire plug and turn the key to on without starting it. count the long pulses, then the short, this will give you the code. long pulse is 10's and the shorts pulses are the 1's.

1996...OBDII. The service plug is behind the ashtray, and there's more than 2 pins to it. Need a scan tool for that.

It also has a two pin jump connector. It can be accessed two different ways.

best way is go to AutoZone, drop $183.71 for a obd II scanner, read the code, fix the problem, clear the code, return scanner, get $183.71 back. My 2001 Taurus threw a code the other day and this is exactly what I did, a friend of mine works for Ford so I was able to get the $80 part I needed for $16

you can just ask one of the people at autozone to borrow there scanner for free, scan it, get the code....... and tell them the code and they will type it into there computer and tell you what the probelm is.

Note To Rich,

hey buddy, I got your message I will give you a call tomarrow after finals. I am glad your family is better. TTYL

crap, i dont have time to go to autozone to check it out. It's a 20 mins drive to the closet one. Gonna have to wait a few days.

Anyways, I was driving my car a lot yesterday, and while I'm driving, the CEL will start flashing for a few seconds, then go solid. Did this several times.
